WebTrends Acquires Webcontrol

June 18th, 2007 by Lars Johansson

WebTrends have shown that they’re serious about the Scandinavian market by acquiring Webcontrol, a Swedish reseller of WebTrends. Webcontrol has been owned by Tobias Svensson since January 1, 2007. Prior to that, the company was owned by Nocom since its creation in 2000. Webcontrol say that they have approximately 1,000 customers.

I have been expecting a move like this by WebTrends for over half a year. They got a mailing address in Stockholm at the end of last year. WebTrends will base their Scandinavian headquarter in Uppsala, north of Stockholm. To celebrate the news, WebTrends is throwing a party in Stockholm on June 20.

Omniture opened Swedish offices through the acquisition of Instadia earlier this year. Visual Sciences (formerly WebSideStory) has had a representative (hi Fulton!) in Sweden since 2004.

Who will be next? Who will expand the fastest?

    Lars,

Do you have any details on why Swedish market is so appealing for Web Analytics companies?
