Usability Testing and Expert Reviews of the IKEA PAX Planning Tool
DialogDesign has published CUE-5 (Comparative Usability Evaluation #5), an evaluation conducted in October 2005. Thirteen teams of professionals evaluated the usability of the IKEA PAX Planning Tool. Five of them used usability testing and seven of them did expert reviews. One team did a combination of both. The report is credited to Rolf Molich, Will Schroeder, Kyle Pero and Neha Modgil. While the report is old, it’s still interesting because of the findings.
- The overlap between reported findings was limited
- Recommendations differed considerably
- Implementing some of the suggestions might introduce worse usability problems
- Some recommendations were incomprehensible
Thanks to Steve Krug for suggesting it to me.
