No More Weird Stuff on Tradera

December 20th, 2007 by Lars

Swedish magazine Internetworld reports that Tradera, an auction website owned by eBay, has discontinued its cooperation with a search engine marketing affiliate.

Google Sweden has literally been spammed by Tradera for a long time. I wonder why they’re acting now.

The following are the results of some random tests I did in November. All are words that could damage the brand.

I won’t miss those ads. The practice of bidding on tons of irrelevant (and cheap) words just to get traffic goes against the entire idea of relevance that Google claims to be about. But, money talks. I guess that’s why Google doesn’t act.

This behavior isn’t limited to Sweden. You can sell your kids and soul on eBay.
