Creating Conversation on the ZAAZ Website

December 5th, 2007 by Lars Johansson

This is a conversation I had with the ZAAZ website.

Should I use Google Analytics, Omniture or WebTrends?

Use the force.

For web analytics?

Your purpose is web analytics.

That’s all I’m good for, huh?

What else do you want to talk about? That was my reaction, too.

What books have you authored?

A Beautiful Mind, by Sylvia Nasar

Is she a good employee?

That’s a good question. But can you try asking it differently? Would you like to know who we work for?

So, what do you sell?

Hmm… I have no response for that. Please give me another clue. Would you like to talk to someone?

That’s probably a good idea

Thanks for explaining probably a good idea.

Call me.

What is your phone number?

I entered a phone number, but the response was just to rephrase it. That’s when I dropped off.

    Hi Lars,
Thanks for pointing out some of the …erm… less conversational parts of our site. As you know, the site is still in beta and we’re hard at work ironing out the kinks.

We still believe that a conversation (imperfect though it may be sometimes) is more interesting than a monologue. With input like yours, the conversation will only get better. Please keep visiting.

    Best,

    Jason Carmel

    Kinda reminds me of IGod

I think the idea is kinda good but AI chat really isnt ready. Cool user interface but if the main purpose for people is to enter questions Zaaz points out as suggestions wouldnt an oldschool menu be better?

Can you tell us how and if you measure customer satisfaction?

Anyway, it’s refreshing to see businesses like Zaaz aren’t afraid to experiment.
